Postponed

Well, much to our dismay, our court date has been postponed until Tuesday. We don't really have any details to post right now. It has been a very long process, and Dave and I are both weary. We know that God is in control, though, and only pray for His will in this situation. Please continue to pray for us, and know that we REALLY appreciate all the prayers you have already sent our way. We will try and post again on Tuesday. Hopefully it will be good news! Love to all.

We are still in Sevastopal

Hello everyone! Once again, we apologize for not updating the blog, but there really isn't a whole lot of information that we can pass on to you, plus we were living a mile away from access to the internet and they had limited hours. Now we have moved into a new, nicer apartment with a washing machine and microwave. It's a small microwave, but it is big enough to hold a bag of popcorn. I (Candace) have become addicted to Fanta (orange soda), and we are constantly looking for a place that sells it. We hope we can find some back in the US. Believe it or not, Dave has tried new types of food. His favorite new food is Borscht--basically vegetable soup with beets. Other than that, Dave has been living on sausage baked in bread--in the US, we call this pigs in a blanket, or just hot dogs (though he really does not like their ketchup). Our favorite hang out is Taverna, which literally translates to "The Tavern". It is a local sailor favorite, but we have yet to see a sailor there. It is a Ukrainian cafe which serves authentic Ukrainian food, as well as Dave's favorite (see above). Before we moved to our new apartment, we ate there at least once a day...sometimes twice. When we walk in, we keep waiting for them to yell, "Norm!!" as in the tv show "Cheers".

Our daily activities include: feeding the birds, going to the market, reading books, and playing cards. Dave will not teach me anymore games because I beat him in every game he teaches me! We spend a lot of time in the open market where we can find fresh produce and some goods a little cheaper than in the stores here, but, for the most part, still not as cheap as in the US. For example: pringles for $4, iceberg lettuce for $4, apples for $2/lb, and potatoes for $0.50/lb. Bread is very cheap, but doesn't taste very good, even when smothered with Peanut Butter, hence favorite activity number one (see above).

Now about our adoption. We have just received our courtdate. It is this Friday, July 25th at 10 AM, which is 3 AM Louisville time. So if you wake up in the middle of the night Thursday, PRAY! We would like to tell you more about the child we have selected, but since our last blog, more hurdles have surfaced, and we want to be sure the adoption goes through before releasing more information. What we can say is that we love this child and dearly hope for the best and pray for God's will. We hate to not tell you more, but at this point we are protecting our hearts until we know this is our child. As soon as the 10 day manditory wait period is over, we will flood this blog with all the details and hopefully pictures (if we can find a computer capable of uploading them). Until then, please keep those prayers coming.

We are very homesick and love and miss everyone, especially our little boys. Love to all,
Candace and Dave
